The Cozumel airport code is CZM. The airport is very small but it is easy to find things. It has some food options, the security process is simple, and there are airport shuttles that will take you to your hotel. I will cover each of these items in my post below.
The Cozumel airport is small but relatively modern. There are clearly marked signs, there are nice restrooms and has a pretty nice little restaurant. It also has some shops to spend the last of your pesos on before you leave.
It is similar to other security at other overseas airports. You will get some Custom’s forms on the plane that are easy to fill out. You will exit the plane onto the tarmac and then be directed to the Custom’s area. Depending on the timing of your flight you may have to wait in line up to about 15-20 minutes. The Customs agent will ask for your passport, the 2 forms, and may ask you a few simple questions. They speak fluent English. Once you are done with the Cozumel airport’s Customs agent you will find your baggage right behind the Customs agent if you checked it in, and then you will go through a small x-ray machine that checks for food, seeds, plants etc…
There are multiple approaches to getting a shuttle. First, you can go online to a number of different companies who sell shuttle rides to your airport. The prices will vary from $20-$35. Second, you could walk towards the exit and right before you go outside there will be a window where someone is selling tickets for shuttles to your hotel. You tell them your hotel and pay. I would recommend this second option as it is the least expensive option. There will be numerous individuals who will tell you to buy a shuttle ticket from them. None of them are bad, but they may be a little more expensive.
The Cozumel airport has several food options. First they have a small restaurant area with seating. It has some sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers and multiple drink options. There is a small bar that has some snack type food. Finally there are some stores where you can buy candy, peanuts, chocolate etc. As a side note, there are multiple shop where you can buy some trinkets, t-shirts, even watches and jewelry. It does cost more than buying them in town, however the quality of the products seemed better. Enjoy the Cozumel airport! ( http://cozumel-airport.com/ )
